Vol. 24 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - COTTAGERS AND UNTENANTED LANDS.

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether it is the policy of the Land Commission not to consider the applications of cottagers for holdings on untenanted lands in the hands of the Land Commission, and if so, whether he will state the reason.

The applications of all persons coming within the provisions of Section 31 of the Land Act, 1923, are considered by the Land Commission.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that in certain cases in Westmeath applications from cottagers who have invested their savings in stock have been turned down and men have been imported into the county; and will he consider applications from such cottagers, especially those who have been deprived of employment on estates which have to be divided?

The Deputy does not make it clear to what class of cottagers he is referring. If the Deputy puts down a question in regard to a specific case I will reply to him.
