Vol. 27 No. 1

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - SUBSCRIPTIONS TO DAIL EIREANN LOAN.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he will state why the claim of Mr. Edward Mooney, of Sandyford, County Dublin, one of the first subscribers to the Dáil Eireann (Republican) Loan, for repayment of the sum due thereunder to him has not been dealt with; whether the Minister is aware that he has already made his claim twice within the last two years, and that his name is entered on the register.

No application has been received in my Department from Mr. Edward Mooney, of Sandyford, Co. Dublin, nor is there any record of his having paid a subscription to the Dáil Eireann Internal Loan of 1919-20.

asked the Minister for Finance if repeated applications have been made to his Department by Patrick Whelan, Vinegar Hill Hotel, Enniscorthy, for refund of subscription to the Dáil Eireann Loan, and what is the cause of delay in authorising a refund.

Several applications for the refund of an amount of £1 (one) stated to have been subscribed to the Dáil Eireann Internal Loan by him have been received from Mr. Patrick Whelan, of Vinegar Hill Hotel, Enniscorthy. The amount is not entered in the primary Register of Subscribers and Mr. Whelan was so informed on the 10th February, 1928. Mr. Whelan's application is being considered with others from the Enniscorthy district in which the circumstances are similar, but at the moment the particulars available are not sufficient to enable my Department to authorise the issue of Savings Certificates to the persons concerned.

asked the Minister for Finance if an application has been received by his Department from Mary A. Miskella, Boley, Ballycullane, Co. Wexford, on behalf of her deceased husband, for a refund of his subscription to the Dáil Eireann Loan, and, if so, if he will state when he proposes to deal with same.

An application was received on the 26th ultimo from Mrs. Mary A. Miskella, Boley, Ballycullane, Co. Wexford, for repayment in respect of a sum of £1 subscribed to the Dáil Eireann Internal Loan by her late husband, Thomas Miskella. Mrs. Miskella has been requested to produce to my Department Letters of Administration to the estate of her husband, and when her reply is received the application will be further considered.

asked the Minister for Finance when the following subscribers to Dáil Eireann Loan may expect to get a refund of their subscriptions:—William Leacy, Cushinstown, £1; James Brennan, Kilscanlon, £1; and Edward Brennan, Cushinstown, for Mary Anne Brennan, £2.

The applications which have been received from the persons named in the Deputy's question are being dealt with in the ordinary way in my Department.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that John Sherridan, Moher, New Inns, Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan, applied for repayment of his Dáil Loan subscription, and forwarded his original receipt (No. 12225) on the 20th July, 1928; that he has made several further applications since that date; that he has not yet been paid, and whether he will state the approximate date on which authority to issue Savings Certificates will be given to the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs in this case.

Authority to issue a Savings Certificate to Mr. John Sheridan, of Moher, New Inns, Ballyjamesduff, in respect of his subscription of £1 (one pound) was recently given to the Department of Posts and Telegraphs.

asked the Minister for Finance if Edward Fitzgerald, Cushinstown, forwarded to his Department an official receipt for £2 subscription to the Dáil Eireann Loan; whether Mr. Fitzgerald has since then made repeated applications, and whether the Minister can state when this subscription will be refunded.

Authority to issue a Savings Certificate to Mr. Edward Fitzgerald, of Cushinstown, Co. Wexford, in respect of his subscription of £2 (two pounds) to the Dáil Eireann Loan was recently given to the Department of Posts and Telegraphs.
