WRITTEN ANSWERS. - DIVISION OF LEIX AND OFFALY LANDS.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will state when the Land Commission will be in a position to prepare a division scheme in connection with the lands of Mr. John Mansfield (Record No. S/2406), Lyrogue, Errill, Leix, and when same is likely to be put into operation.

The estate of William Hopkins has been vested in the Land Commission under the Land Act, 1923. Included in it is the holding of John Mansfield, lands of Lyrogue, which was retained under Section 28, subsection 6 (d) of the Act with a view to its being resumed. Notice of the intention of the Land Commission to apply to the Judicial Commissioner for an order authorising the resumption of the holding was served on the tenant, who has lodged an objection which is pending for hearing before the Court of the Land Commission.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether a division scheme has so far been drawn up in connection with the Ryan-Bennett Estate, Thomastown, Fivealley, Birr, Offaly, and when same is likely to be put into operation.

A scheme for the division and distribution of the lands of Raheenglass, on the estate of Valentine J.E. Ryan, County Offaly, is being prepared, but has not yet been completed. The Land Commission are not at present in a position to state when the lands will be divided.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether it is proposed to acquire the lands of Mr. Patrick Lawrence, Bawnmore, Geashill, Offaly, for the purpose of dividing same amongst the uneconomic holders and landless men in the district.

Patrick Lawrence has offered the Land Commission a holding on the lands of Dalgan and Bawnmore, Co. Offaly, containing 56a. 2r. 16p., held by him subject to a Land Purchase annuity, in exchange for a suitable holding elsewhere. The matter is receiving the consideration of the Land Commission.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether a division scheme has so far been drawn up in connection with the Grogan estate, Screggan, Offaly, and whether he will state when same is likely to be put into operation.

Proceedings for the acquisition of these lands were instituted under the Land Act, 1923, and the price has been determined. A scheme for the division of these lands is in course of preparation, but the Land Commission are not at present in a position to state when the lands will be divided.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether a division scheme has so far been drawn up in connection with the estate of Mr. Mangan (Edgehill), Mountwilson, Edenderry; and, if so, when it will be put into operation.

A scheme for the division and distribution of the estate of Mangan and Edgill has been prepared and is being considered by the Land Commissioners, and they expect soon to be in a position to divide the lands.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether a division scheme has yet been sanctioned by the Land Commission in connection with the estate of Richard Warburton, Garryhinch (Leix), and, if so, whether he will state when it is likely to be put into operation.

Proceedings have been instituted under the provisions of the Land Act, 1923, for the acquisition of the lands of Garryhinch, on the estate of Richard Warburton.

These lands were published in a Provisional List of lands which, if not excluded in consequence of a valid objection, will become vested in the Land Commission on the appointed day.

The price has not yet been determined, and the Land Commission are not in a position to state when they will be divided.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether a division scheme has yet been sanctioned by the Land Commission in connection with the estate of H.E. Jolly, Co. Offaly (Record No. 933), and, if so, whether he will state when it will be put into operation.

The Land Commission do not propose to acquire the lands of H.E. Joly, situate in County Offaly.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he can state the cause of the delay in dividing the estate of Miss Ball, Monasterons, Edenderry, Offaly; and whether he can now state when the division scheme will be put into operation.

The Land Commission have divided and distributed approximately 800 acres of untenanted land on the estate of Miss Ball, Co. Offaly, and they expect soon to be in a position to divide the remaining 435 acres.
