Vol. 27 No. 7

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - BOTTLE COMPANY'S AFFAIRS.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will state the amount of the subsidy, if any, and the credit guarantee given by the Government to the Irish Glass Bottle Company, Limited, Charlotte Quay, Dublin; whether he can state (a) the number of men and boys employed by the company at present; (b) the maximum output of this factory when fully staffed; (c) who are the representatives of the Government on the management of the company, and (d) if the Chairman and Secretary of the company are citizens of the Saorstát.

No subsidy has been given to the Irish Glass Bottle Company, Ltd., but under the Trade Loans (Guarantee) Acts I have guaranteed a loan of £50,000. In the case of any individual firm, I cannot undertake to supply the information asked for under headings (a) and (b) as I would thereby be divulging trade details of a kind that commercial undertakings regard as confidential. I nominated a Director on the Board of the original company, but as its affairs have since passed into the hands of Receivers acting on behalf of the debenture holders the company does not now operate and parts (c) and (d) of the question consequently do not arise.
