Vol. 27 No. 7

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ACQUISITION OF GALWAY ESTATE.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will state if the Irish Land Commission have yet acquired any lands on the Darcy estate, Newforest, Co. Galway; and, if so, whether he will state the names of the farms, the total number of acres, and when these lands will be divided amongst the congested tenants on that estate.

Proceedings have been instituted by the Land Commission, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1923, for the acquisition of 977 acres in the townlands of Glen, Rockfield East, Newcastle, Cloonconore, Corramallagh, Cuilsellagh and Corracullih, on the Darcy estate, and the price thereof has been fixed. These lands will be divided as soon as possible, but the Commissioners are not at present in a position to say when the division will take place.

I would ask the Parliamentary Secretary, in view of the congestion that exists in this area, to push on this matter as quickly as possible.
