Vol. 27 No. 7

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - OFFER FOR PURCHASE OF DONEGAL ESTATE.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he can state if the offer made by the Irish Land Commission for the purchase of the Porter Estate, Burt, Co. Donegal, for division amongst the landless men of that district has been rejected; and, if so, whether he can state if the Irish Land Commission propose taking any further action in the matter.

The lands referred to comprise a holding of 243a. Or. 36p. situate in the townland of Mulleny, Co. Donegal, formerly owned by the late Miss Porter, and now in the possession of Robert Edwards.

The Land Commission made an offer for the purchase of this holding, which was not accepted by Mr. Edwards.

Proceedings have now been instituted under the provisions of Section 24 (3) of the Land Act, 1923, for the acquisition of these lands, which have been published in a Provisional List of untenanted lands which will, if not excluded in consequence of a valid objection, become vested in the Land Commission on the appointed day.
