Vol. 28 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Provision of Children's Court.

asked the Minister for Justice whether, in wiew of the desire that has been expressed from time to time to have a court for the trial of children's cases in Dublin separate from the ordinary Police Courts, he will endeavour when rearranging the accommodation at the Four Courts and adjoining buildings to have such a court provided for children, which, in addition to being convenient for the magistrates and officials, will ensure that children and their parents will be kept apart from the atmosphere and surroundings of the Police Courts.

In the plans for the reconstruction of the Four Courts building at Inns Quay provision has been made for a separate court for the transaction of the civil business of the Metropolitan District Court. It is the intention to utilise this new court at suitable times for the disposal of such children's cases as may come before the Justices of the District Court.
