asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the substantial decrease in the price of cattle, he will ask the National Prices Commission to investigate the reasons why the price of meat to the consumer has not been reduced.
With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 2 and 3 together.
In view of the fact that the fall in cattle prices has not been matched by a corresponding reduction in the price of meat, I have decided, as the Deputies will already be aware, to set up a Prices Advisory Body under the Prices Acts to conduct a public inquiry into the price of meat.
