Vol. 28 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Beam Wireless Telegraphy.

asked the Minister for External Affairs whether any representatives of Saorstát Eireann took part in negotiations with the Governments of Britain and the Dominions relating to the Beam wireless telegraphy; whether any interests of the Saorstát were involved, and whether he intends to issue to the Dáil a report of the results of the negotiations.

A representative of Saorstát Eireann took part in the Conference on Cables and Wireless Telegraphy in London last year. The Saorstát has no financial interests in the cables or Beam wireless installations which were dealt with by the conference, but as the provision of a rapid, cheap and efficient system of communication between the different parts of the British Commonwealth of Nations was the main object in view, the Government considered it desirable to participate. A report was issued by the conference and has been published by the British Government. Some copies of this report will be placed in the Library. There would be no justification for the publication of a separate report here.
