Vol. 29 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Old Age Pension Case.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that in dealing with a recent application for the old age pension made by Timothy Hurley, Lettergorman, Dunmanway, the Pension Officer estimated the applicant received five pounds per year from his daughter in America; if he will state whether this is a general practice in estimating claims, and what justification there is for making such an assessment.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As regards the second part of the question, I would refer the Deputy to Section 2 (1) (b) of the Old Age Pensions Act, 1911.
