Vol. 29 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gaeltacht Schemes in Mayo.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state what Gaeltacht Schemes, if any, have been approved of, or are being considered by the Land Commission in the Co. Mayo.

In continuation of similar work in Erris and Ballycroy districts which has proved successful, the Land Commission are arranging for the re-arrangement of certain tenanted lands and common-ages, which are at present held in intermixed rundale plots, in conjunction with a scheme of reclamation of hitherto unproductive commonages. This work will involve an area of approximately 700 acres. Other schemes are at present under consideration. In addition to these works, which have received special attention, the normal work of the Land Commission in the acquisition, improvement and distribution of untenanted lands, and in the vesting of tenanted lands, is proceeding.
