asked the Minister for Finance whether he has considered the recommendations of the Banking Commission that the Trustee Savings Banks in the Saorstát should be merged in the Post Office Savings Bank, and that the legal position of the latter relative to certain matters should be more clearly defined; and, if so, whether he will state what action he proposes to take in regard to the matter.

The codification and revision of Post Office Savings Bank legislation have been under consideration for some time and legislation on the subject will be introduced in due course.
Advantage will be taken of the occasion to deal with the question of the Trustee Savings Banks, but no final decision has yet been reached as to their future position.
