asked the Minister for Defence whether he will state the amount of the gratuity paid to Lieutenant-General Seán Mac Eoin on his retirement from the Army, the amount of the annual pension he will receive, and the amount of the salary, if any, he will receive as an officer in the Reserve of Officers.

The amount of the gratuity payable to Lieutenant-General Seán Mac Eoin on his retirement from the Forces is three years' pay, viz., £3,300, of which 25 per cent. has already been paid. The amount of his military service pension is £180 per annum. As an Officer of the Reserve, he will be granted from the date of his reporting for duty to the date inclusive of the termination of such duty, which will not exceed 30 days in any one year, pay and allowances (except outfit allowance) at the rate applicable to an unmarried Officer of the Forces of corresponding rank serving in the same capacity, plus a grant of £85 per annum.
