Vol. 30 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition and Division of Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state the date on which the Dromoland estate, Co. Clare, was taken over by the Land Commission; the reasons for the delay in vesting the holdings on the estate in the tenants, and when the Land Commission expects to be in a position to vest them.

This estate is at present being dealt with, and the Land Commission hope to be able to publish at an early date the Provisional List of lands which will be vested in them on the appointed day, but it is not at present possible to say when the holdings will be vested.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether the Land Commission has acquired the Parker Hutchinson estate at Timoney, Roscrea, Tipperary, and if so, whether it is intended to divide it this year.

The Land Commission are in negotiation with the owner for the purchase of some 670 acres of the lands of Cullaun, Timoney, Timonyhills and Tinderry, but they have not yet acquired the lands, and they are unable at present to say when they may be divided.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will state why Michael Jennings, of Moyvoughley, O'Donohue estate, R.O. 104/2348, and Thomas Fox, of Rabeen, Rochfort estate, R.O. 104/ 3951. were refused holdings on the Moyvoughley lands, Co. Westmeath.

The Land Commission divided the lands of Moyvoughley to the best advantage, having regard to the area of land available and the number of applicants.

The applications of Michael Jennings and Thomas Fox were duly considered, but the Commissioners were unable to see their way to allot them parcels of land.

Mr. Doyle (for Mr. J. Crowley)

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he is aware that the Land Commission has had under consideration for many years the question of the acquisition and distribution of the lands of Eyre Massey Stack, Ballyconery, Lisselton, N. Kerry, amongst the uneconomic holders and landless men of the district, and if he will state whether the estate has been acquired, and, if so, when it will be divided.

The Land Commission with a view to their acquisition under the Land Act, 1923, have published in a Provisional List the lands of Ballyconery, Miveevee and Toohana, containing respectively 110a. 3r. 9p., 129a. 2r. 32p. and 82a. 0r. 20p., the property of Eyre Massey Stack, as lands which would, if not excluded in consequence of a valid objection, vest in the Land Commission on the appointed day. The owner lodged an objection to the Provisional List on the ground that certain lands returned as tenanted lands should be included in the above-mentioned lands. The objection has been allowed by the Commissioners on the consent of the owner and the occupier. The lands the subject of the objection are now about to be published in a Provisional List, and the proceedings for the acquisition of the land will be continued as rapidly as possible.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state the reason for the delay in making payment to Mrs. K. Waldron of the purchase price of the lands known as the Colnaha farm, Aughamore, Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo, and if he will also state when the distribution and settlement of these lands will be completed.

The purchase money of these lands was distributed by the Judicial Commissioner in the Court of the Land Commission to the parties found to be entitled thereto. Mrs. Waldron received the amount due to her on the 15th instant.

As I informed the Deputy on 27th February last, the lands were divided and allottees put in possession in November last.
