Several matters have to be considered as to how best it would be possible to meet the desires of a number of parents in Galway City who wish that a new primary school should be set up, in which the instruction in all subjects, other than English, would be given through the medium of Irish.
Owing to the fact that there are large and well-equipped schools already in Galway it is not quite clear that there will be a sufficient supply of pupils for the new school, and if there is not a certain minimum average of pupils in attendance it will not be possible to provide for the new school a staff which could ensure its success. The matter is, however, being carefully examined.
Perhaps the Minister would tell us how long it will take to complete the examination, seeing the Department agreed to the principle of this matter two years ago?
I cannot tell the Deputy how quickly or how slowly the minds of other people work.
