The Saorstát Government were informed of the intention of His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom to re-open diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union. On this point no expression of opinion was asked for or offered.
Is the Minister aware that that is contrary to the reports which have appeared in the Press and in the journal of the Empire Parliamentary Union, which has been circulated amongst Deputies?

I did not see the reports in the Press, but these are the facts.
Is the Minister aware that pre-1914 large quantities of cured herrings were exported to Russia, and in view of that fact should the Minister not have expressed some opinion in order to get that market re-opened which would be of benefit to the fishermen?

I understand the British Government is actually doing what the Deputy advises.
Russia is not big enough to be considered by the Minister—it is too small a country.
