Vol. 33 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Boar Premiums.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state how many premiums were awarded to boars in 1929; whether all such premiums were awarded to animals of the large white York type, and whether the Minister intends extending the principle of the Live Stock Breeding Act, 1925, to pigs, and, if so, when.

Mr. Hogan

The total number of premiums awarded to boars in 1929 was 1,112. Of these boars 1,070 were of the large white York type and 42 of the large white Ulster breed. It is my intention to extend the Live Stock Breeding Act to boars at an early date, and if possible by 1st July next.
