Vol. 36 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Territorial Limits Conference.

Tomás O Maoláin

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he has received the report of the Department's representative who attended the Territorial Limits Conference at the Hague; whether he will state its conclusions and what steps, if any, are being taken to act on recommendations affecting the waters of the Free State.

The Conference for the Codification of International Law, held at The Hague in March and April last, while submitting recommendations as to the legal status of the territorial sea, failed to reach any common ground on the fundamental question of the breadth to be assigned to it. The Conference recommended to the League of Nations the further study of the matter by the Governments affected with a view to discovering means of facilitating the work of codification of the law on the subject.

Will the Minister tell us what happened to the things, for instance, that the Minister for Fisheries said were being sent on to the Attorney-General last May, and that he expected would be put in shape in a few weeks?

Is not that a separate question?

Mr. Hogan

I think so.
