Table II (a) of Volume II of the Census of 1926 shows the number of farmers in each county, classified by size of farm on which occupied. This table does not show the total number of holdings, as there are a number of landholders whose principal occupation is not farming, and there are also cases in which individual farmers farm more than one holding. Figures have been compiled from the returns of Agricultural Statistics for 1929 showing the number of occupiers, number of holdings and total area of holdings classified according to size of holding. This information has not been published but may be obtained on application from the Statistics Branch of the Department of Industry and Commerce.
