Vol. 36 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dromina Mixed National School.

asked the Minister for Education whether his Department has sanctioned reconstruction works which were necessary to be carried out in Dromina Mixed National School, Roll No. 11262, Co. Limerick, as a result of amalgamation; whether these works have been carried out, and whether a period of three months has elapsed since the manager made application for the sum of £14 2s. 6d. to meet two-thirds of the cost of these works, and will he explain the reason for the delay in making this payment.

My Department sanctioned reconstruction works rendered necessary as a result of the amalgamation of the Dromina Boys' and Girls' Schools.

These works have been carried out. Their cost was £14 2s. 6d., and the Manager applied for a grant of two-thirds of that sum. The grant has now been made.

Three months have elapsed since the application for the grant was received. The delay was due in part to the very heavy demand on the officers dealing with matters of this nature in my Department, and in part to the necessity for having the works approved by the Commissioners of Public Works before payment could be made.
