Vol. 37 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Belmullet Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if the scheme for the division of the lands on the Denis Bingham Estate at Bingham Castle, Ellie Bay, Deevish, and Cross, in Belmullet area, has been approved, and if the allottees will be put into possession in time to enable them to crop the lands during the coming spring.

A scheme for the division of the untenanted lands on the estate of Denis Bingham, Co. Mayo, is in course of preparation, but it is not anticipated that the Land Commission will be in a position to divide the lands this season.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary state whether it is because the scheme is so complicated there is this delay?

No, not necessarily. There are so many other schemes besides this one.

Will he give facilities for the tenants to be put in possession of the land or to take part of the land as conacre during the coming season?

Possession was taken of the land early in 1930, and the tenants have already the use of the land.
