Vol. 37 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballyphilip (Tipperary) Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state what is the present state of the negotiations between the Irish Land Commission and the representatives of the late Mr. Hughes, with reference to the acquisition of the Ballyphilip Estate, Killenaule, Co. Tipperary (S.R.); what is the area and the valuation of the lands proposed to be acquired, and if a price has been offered, what is the amount, and if such offer has been accepted.

As the Deputy has already been informed, the Land Commission have under consideration the question of the acquisition of the lands of Ballyphilip the property of the late Mr. E. A. Hughes. At the present stage of the proceedings it is not possible to state the area of the lands which may be acquired or their valuation.

Is the Minister aware that this land is going to be taken over for a stud farm? Is he going to allow that to operate instead of taking over the land and dividing it amongst the uneconomic holders in the district?

I have no information that the land is about to be acquired for the purpose of a stud farm.
