Vol. 37 No. 17

Written Answers. - Acquisition of Clonbur Lands (Mayo).

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he is aware that acute congestion exists in the parish of Clonbur, where there are over 70 tenants whose valuations are under £5; and if he will state what steps are being taken by the Irish Land Commission to acquire the large grazing ranch held by Captain Hodgson, on the Livesay Estate, for the purpose of relieving the existing congestion.

As the Deputy has already been informed, the Land Commission are aware of the congestion existing in the parish of Clonbur. The lands of Kilbride, the property of Captain Hodgson, to which the Deputy appears to refer, have been gazetted under the provisions of the Land Act, 1923, with the view to their acquisition.
