Vol. 39 No. 13

Written Answers. - Acquisition of Mayo (Castlemacgarrett) Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he is aware that acute congestion exists in the parishes of Claremorris, Ballindine and Crossboyne; and if he will state what steps, if any, are being taken by the Irish Land Commission to acquire part of the lands of Castlemacgarrett, held by Lord Oranmore and Browne, which contain over 1,500 acres, for the purpose of providing economic holdings for the tenants in those parishes whose valuations are under £10.

The Land Commission have directed an inspector to report on the estate of Lord Oranmore and Browne, referred to, with a view to the acquisition of the lands in whole or in part for the relief of congestion.
