Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition and Distribution of Kildare Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state the amount of land taken over by the Irish Land Commission in Co. Kildare during the years 1928, 1929, 1930, 1931, inclusive, and the total distributed amongst uneconomic holders in Kildare, and the total amount given to importees from other counties; will the Minister state the total amount expended by the Land Commission on the improvement of estates distributed amongst uneconomic holders, and also the amount expended amongst landholders holding more than 50 acres.

During the four financial years from 1st April, 1927, to 21st March, 1931, a total area of 7,206 acres in County Kildare was acquired by the Land Commission for division under the Land Acts, 1923-9. During the same period the Land Commission divided 7,047 acres of untenanted land in County Kildare, of which 1,950 acres were allotted to migrants from other counties. Statistics are not available as to the amounts expended on the improvement of particular classes of holdings, but the total expenditure by the Land Commission on the improvement of estates in County Kildare during the four-year period was £24,988.
