Vol. 48 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Building of County Donegal School.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state when a grant for building a school at Drumoghill, County Donegal, will be made available.

I am not in a position to indicate a date. This case, together with a number of similar cases, will receive due consideration in connection with the next allocation of grants for the building and improvements of National Schools.

Is the Minister aware that he informed me six months ago that it was his intention to accept the offer of a local Manager to contribute part of the cost, and to provide the remainder as soon as money would be made available? In view of that does he think it better to devote himself to financing relief work, where valuable work of this kind might be done, in that area, which would give splendid employment, simply because he cannot extract the money from the Minister for Finance necessary to build this school and other schools?

The matter will be given attention.
