Vol. 49 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Chairman of Waterford Court of Referees.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he can state the reasons, if any, of the refusal to renew the appointment of Mr. Charles S. Quinlan, solicitor, as chairman of the Waterford Court of Referees, which appointment he filled with the appreciation of all concerned (including that of the Minister) since September, 1928, and who has been appointed to replace him.

Chairmen of courts of referees are appointed for a year only. At the end of the year their appointments terminate. There is no obligation to appoint them for any further term. Mr. Quinlan's appointment as chairman of the Waterford Court of Referees terminated in March of the present year. He was not offered an appointment for the current year. The present chairman of the Waterford Court of Referees is Mr. Edward O'Shaughnessy, solicitor, Waterford.
