Vol. 54 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Revenue from Customs Duties.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state in respect of each of the financial years 1929/30, 1930/31, 1931/32, 1932/33 and 1933/34 the total amount of revenue derived from Customs Duties, and, further, if he will state for each of these years the revenue appropriate to each of the ordinary categories of goods in any case where the said revenue exceeded £50,000 per annum; and, further, to estimate in respect of these categories for each of these years the proportion of such goods which may be classed as "capital goods" or "productive goods."

The total net receipts of Custom Duties for each of the financial years 1929/30 to 1933/34 are available in the Finance Accounts for each of those years. The details of the Customs receipts under the various heads of duty are also available therein and a reference to these accounts for the respective financial years should give the Deputy the information he seeks in respect of items over £50,000.

It is not possible from the records available in my Department to divide imported goods into two classes under the headings "capital goods" and "productive goods."
