Vol. 55 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fuel Used in Sugar Factories.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he can state the quantities of (a) native, and (b) imported fuel used in each of the four sugar factories during the last "campaign" season and the amount expended thereon in each case.

It is not the practice to issue figures relating to the business of a particular company, but I may say, for the Deputy's information, that in the four sugar factories during the last campaign about 70 per cent. of the total coal consumption was native coal. The company has had its boilers fitted specially so that the highest possible percentage of native coal can be consumed.
