Vol. 56 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Seizures for Non-Payment of Rates and Annuities.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state for County Tipperary for each of the two years ended the 30th April, 1935, the number of seizures made in respect of (a) non-payment of rates and (b) non-payment of annuities; indicating for each the total number of live stock seized and the number of cases in which furniture or other goods were seized; further if he will state the total amounts in respect of which such seizures were made and the total amounts realised at the sale of such live stock or goods as well as the total costs incurred in making such seizures and sales.

The information for which the Deputy has asked is not available in the records of my Department, and it would not be possible for the UnderSheriff to extract the required particulars from his records without a great deal of labour, which he can hardly be expected, at the present time, to devote to the compilation of statistics, having regard to the many more important and urgent demands on his time.

Are we to understand that there is no record of the expenses incurred by the State, apart from the sheriff's expenses?

As regards any particular case those details can be got.

As regards any particular case? Would the Minister indicate how they can be got?

In any case in which the Deputy is interested he can get full particulars from the sheriff.

With regard to the State expenses?

Those particulars can also be got.

From the sheriff?

From the sheriff.
