Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Teachers' Salaries and School Attendance.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state (a) the number of teachers from whom salary has been withdrawn during the period April 1st, 1932, to March 31st, 1935, because of decline in average attendance at their schools; (b) the number of women assistant teachers who, during the same period, were reduced to the position of junior assistant mistress because of the same reason; (c) the number of principal teachers whose salary was reduced during the same period because of a fall in the category of their schools, due to a decline in attendance; (d) the number of teachers who during the quarter ended March 31st, 1935, were notified by the Department that salary would be withdrawn on the latter date if the attendance at their schools did not reach the specified figure necessary to maintain them in their positions; and (e) whether he is yet in a positions; to state what alterations, if any, it is proposed to make in the present "Attendance" regulations governing the appointment and retention of teachers.
