Vol. 56 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Personnel of Health Insurance Audit Department.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state what changes have taken place in the personnel of the Health Insurance Audit Department consequent on the unification of the several approved societies and indicate the saving effected as a result of such changes.

Following the unification of the Health Insurance societies under the National Health Insurance Act, 1933, the personnel of the national insurance audit branch has been reduced by one junior executive officer. The saving amounts to £383 per annum plus cost-of-living bonus— total £495 13s. 0d.

In addition to the saving of £495 13s. 0d. due to the retrenchment of one post of junior executive officer savings of £550 in travelling expenses and subsistence allowances will be effected in the current year as a result of the unification as the audit is now conducted at the central office of the Unified Society in Dublin.

It is not yet possible to say what the audit staffing requirements will be until the accounts of the approved societies have been audited up to date and the accounts of the Unified Society for the first year have been completed. This will probably be about May, 1936.
