Vol. 57 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Old Age Pension Claim.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state on what basis William Vogan, Cornasaus, was granted an old age pension at the rate of only 7/- per week, and if he is aware that the pensioner had transferred his entire property without reservation to his son, who is married and has a family, and had no other means whatsoever.

It was decided on appeal on the 23rd May, 1935, that William George Vogan, Cornasaus, Mountain Lodge, was entitled to an old age pension of 7/- per week. The means were estimated on the basis of the annual value to the claimant of the proceeds of the farm, as the case was regarded as coming within the terms of Section 4 (3) of the Old Age Pensions Act, 1908, and the assignment made by the claimant on 20th December, 1933, which contained no reservation for the benefit of the assignor, was disregarded.
