Vol. 57 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Aerodrome for Dublin.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the request for suggested relief schemes he will consider the provision of an aerodrome for the City of Dublin, which is so urgently needed, and if in this regard he will consider the demolition of the existing buildings at Collinstown aerodrome and the levelling of the ground for the establishment of an aerodrome on this site.

The provision of an airport for any city is primarily a matter for the municipality, who are empowered to provide aerodromes by the Air Navigation Act, 1920.

I understand that the schemes submitted to the Interdepartmental Committee on Public Works do not include any proposal from the Dublin Corporation. The Committee are not themselves in a position to determine the highly technical questions involved in the provision of an up-to-date civil aerodrome.
