Vol. 57 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cattle Export Licences.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state (1) what is the earliest date at which the proposed Committee for the allocation of Cattle Export Licences is likely to function; (2) what will be the number of the Committee and how will it be selected and (3) what will be the basis of allocation of the licences.

(1) Arrangements are being made for the distribution of cattle export licences by county committees of agriculture acting through sub-committees appointed from their members. It is expected that the first such distribution will be made about the middle of July. (2) The question of the number of members to serve on each sub-committee is a matter for the county committee concerned. The county committees will no doubt make the sub-committees as representative as possible. (3) It is proposed to allocate licences to each county committee on the basis of the cattle census figures in each such county for 1934.

Arising out of the Minister's reply, and including his assumption that the county committees will make the sub-committees as representative as possible, I should like to know whether or not the Minister has anything to say with regard to the action of the Limerick County Council in choosing the present sub-committee there?

What about Cork?
