Vol. 58 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Westmeath Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what is the cause of the delay in dividing the lands of Williamstown, Moyvore, Mullingar, on the Bond Estate and now in the occupation of Mr. William O'Beirne, and if he can give any indication as to when the work of division is likely to begin.

Following on an intimation that Mr. W.W. O'Beirne (tenant of a holding containing 757 acres in the townland of Williamstown on the Bond Estate, County Westmeath, vested in the Land Commission under the Land Act, 1931) was willing that his holding might be taken up by the Land Commission for division, an inspection of the lands was made with a view to determining their suitability for resumption. Certain matters of detail arose on consideration of the inspector's report which made it necessary to have a further report, on which an inspector is at present engaged. At the present stage of the proceedings it is not possible to state when the lands, if acquired, may be divided, but the matter will be dealt with as expeditiously as possible.
