Vol. 59 No. 1

Céisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Relief of Unemployment.

asked the Minister for Finance whether his attention has been drawn to the demand in the City of Dublin by unemployed organisations requesting immediate relief schemes (for their large numbers of unemployed members) to be put into operation, and if he will state whether any grants, for this purpose, are likely to be made to the various public authorities throughout the country, and whether in view of the large influx of unemployed men from other counties he will see that Dublin gets a reasonable share of any grants at his disposal.

The attention of the Minister has not been specially drawn to the matter referred to. Grants from the current Relief Vote are being allocated to the various divisions of the country according to the practice followed in previous years, and reasonable provision will be made for the City of Dublin having regard to the circumstances of the case.
