Vol. 59 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Commission of Inquiry into Civil Service.

asked the Minister for Finance if he has yet received the Final Report of the Commission of Inquiry into the Civil Service.

As the Deputy is no doubt aware, the Report of a Commission of Inquiry can only be said to have been received when all the members of the body have furnished their views on the Terms of Reference as a whole. In the present case the views of all but two of the members are already available. The delay in receipt of the Report is, therefore, not due to any inaction by my Department or by the general body of the Commission but to the silence, so far, on the part of the individual members referred to.

Am I to take it from that reply that one report has been received signed by all the members except two?

I have nothing to add to the reply I have given.
