Vol. 60 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Meath Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission intend to acquire the lands of James Nicholson, Tullaghanog, Trim, and Thomas Newman, of the same district, whether if acquired they will soon be divided; and, if so, whether local applicants or migrants are likely to benefit from the division.

The Land Commission have instituted compulsory proceedings for the acquisition of the lands of Tullaghanog on the Nicholson Estate. An objection has been lodged by the owner and is pending for hearing by the Land Commission. An area of 110 acres of the lands of Tullaghanog which was purchased by the Land Commission from Thomas Newman was divided on the 12th instant. The claims of all local applicants will be considered in the event of the lands on the Nicholson Estate being acquired by the Land Commission.
