I desire to acquaint the Dáil that the following reply has been received from his Majesty King Edward VIII through the Secretary of the Department of External Affairs:—
"I am sincerely grateful to the members of Dáil Eireann for the resolution which has been presented to me.
I can assure you that your message of sympathy at this sad time is deeply appreciated both by Queen Mary and myself.
