Vol. 60 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Importation of Manufactured Doors.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is aware that large quantities of manufactured doors are being imported for use in the construction of working-class houses erected under building schemes and by private persons, and whether he is prepared to inform local authorities and private persons that grants will not be made available in respect of any building in the construction of which imported doors or joinery work are used.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. The Department's inspectors and "Appointed Officers" have already been instructed to warn all persons and public utility societies that they will be liable to forfeit grants under the building Acts in respect of houses in the building of which such materials are utilised.
