Vol. 62 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tipperary Road.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether it is the intention of the Land Commission to complete the making of a road through the Greene Estate, Shronell, Latten, Tipperary, which was begun at the time that estate was divided.

The new road through the townland of Ballynacleragh on the resumed holdings of Nicholas Greene has been constructed as far as is necessary for access to the parcels of land thereon, and it is not the intention of the Land Commission to undertake any extension of this road.

Arising out of the Parliamentary Secretary's reply, is he aware that only something between 50 and 60 yards of this road have been completed and that the remainder of the road has not been completed—in fact, left absolutely untouched—and that there are at least three families living beyond the part of the road that was completed?

The road was made, as far as it was necessary to make it, in order to accommodate the allottees on that land. There was a further extension to accommodate another farmer with a £29 10s. valuation, who, at the time he was requesting a right-of-way on this road in order to have access to a creamery, gave an undertaking that he would maintain the road himself, which was filled in by the Land Commission at his request.
