Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - River Robe Drainage.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the amount expended on the drainage of the River Robe from April 1st, 1936, until July 1st, 1936.

The expenditure on the River Robe drainage scheme from 1st April, 1936, to 1st July, 1936, was £2,225 13s. 8d.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the number of labourers employed on the drainage of the River Robe from April 1st, 1936, until July 1st, 1936; (b) the amount paid weekly in wages to labourers engaged on the drainage of that river, and (c) the weekly wages paid to gangers, and the number of gangers employed.

Wages are paid fortnightly to labourers and others working on the River Robe drainage scheme. (a) The number of labourers employed during the fortnight ending the 18th April, 1936, was three, and this had increased to 49 for the fortnight ending 27th June, 1936. (b) The wages paid to labourers for the fortnight ending 27th June, 1936, amounted. to £115 14s. 10d. (c) No gangers were employed during the fortnight ending 18th April, 1936. The number of gangers employed during the fortnight ending 2nd May, 1936, was two, and the wages paid to them for this period amounted to £11 12s. 9d. Three gangers were employed during the fortnight ending 27th June, 1936, and their wages for the period amounted to £21 8s. 5d.
