Expenditure on the improvement of estates is not allocated annually for particular counties in the manner the Deputy suggests. For improvement purposes estates are treated individually, irrespective of the counties in which they are situate. It is therefore not possible to state beforehand what the total expenditure from the Vote for the Improvement of Estates will be for the current year in respect of the counties mentioned. For the ten months from 1st April 1936 to 31st January, 1937, a sum of £9,796 was expended in Leix and a sum of £12,802 in Offaly.
