Vol. 66 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dispute at Ardee Mental Hospital.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he received from the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union a suggestion that he would take steps to bring about a settlement of the dispute between the Committee of Management of Ardee Mental Hospital and their staff; whether he has in fact taken such; and, if so, what steps towards a settlement of the dispute, and whether it is his intention to invite the parties concerned to confer with a view to a settlement.

The Irish Transport and General Workers' Union has informed my Department as to the dispute at the Ardee Mental Hospital, and my Department has been in touch with the Committee of Management through the Department of Local Government and Public Health. The Committee of Management have been asked by my Department whether they would be prepared to send representatives to attend a conference with representatives of the union, but they have declined.
