Figures relating to bank note circulation are not available and cannot be compiled on the lines asked for by the Deputy. Certain figures which would, no doubt, be suitable for the Deputy's purpose are, however, to be found in (a) Iris Oifigiúil; (b) the Statistical Abstract published by the Department of Industry and Commerce; (c) the quarterly Statistical Bulletin of the Currency Commission, and (d) the annual reports of the Currency Commission.
asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the average weekly amount of Dublin banks' clearances of notes, bills and cheques in each of the months January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December, 1931, and the average weekly amount of such clearances for each of the years 1929, 1930 and 1931.
Figures relating to bank clearances are not compiled or published by any Government Department. The weekly figures are, however, published in the newspapers, and summaries and averages will be found in the quarterly Statistical Bulletin of the Currency Commission, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library.
asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the average total amount of bank debits—ordinary accounts—in each of the months January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December, 1931, and the average total amount of such debits in each of the years 1929, 1930 and 1931.
Figures relating to bank debits in the Saorstát are not available for any period prior to January, 1932. Figures for periods subsequent to that date are compiled by the Currency Commission and published in its quarterly Statistical Bulletin, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library.
