Vol. 71 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Curragh Supply Stores.

asked the Minister for Defencce if his attention has been called to the fact that the Central Supply Stores, Curragh Camp, is selling goods obtainable by the public, at less than cost price, which traders in the neighbourhood and at Newbridge and Kidare can purchase; and, if so, if he will take steps to prevent this unfair competition.

The sale of provisions from the Central Supply Stores, Curragh Camp, is governed by regulations which restrict such sales to army messes, welfare boards, and through these to individual members of the fores. The quantites of provisions that may be issued to serving personnel must he in proportion to the size of the family of the officer or soldier conderned. I am not aware that there has been any departure from the terms of the regulations.
