The area under flax in West Cork in recent years did not justify the employment there of a whole-time flax instructor. If, however, sowings of flax seed in West Cork, in the coming season, are appreciably greater than the 1939 sowings I will be prepared to consider favourably the appointment of a whole-time flax instructor for that district.
Has the Minister any idea of the acreage grown?
