asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the cause of the delay in the erection of 16 houses and three houses for slum clearance at Midleton, County Cork, and what steps he intends to take to expedite the erection of these houses which have been contemplated for more than two years.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Delay in Midleton Housing Scheme.
There has been no undue delay so far as my Department is concerned in connection with the 16 houses and three houses proposed to be erected by the Midleton Urban District Council. The council's loan application was only received three weeks ago. Sanction to the loan will shortly be notified.
As regards the three houses the council have not yet complied with the Department's requirements concerning the specification. As stated in reply to the Deputy on 8th November last the specification was returned to the council on 16th September for modification. The council, however, resubmitted the document without modification and it was again referred back to them on the 4th instant.
