Vol. 79 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Congestion in Mayo.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that acute congestion exists on the Lord Dillon estate, in the townland of Coolougher, Ballyhaunis, County Mayo, where there are five tenants whose poor law valuations are under £3 each; and if he will state what steps, if any, are being taken by the Land Commission to take over the 90 acres of untenanted land held by Mrs. Booth, U.S.A., in the same townland and estate to provide economic holdings for the tenants in the vicinity.

The question appears to refer to a holding of 73 acres in the townland of Cooloughra, Ballyhaunis, now in the ownership of Mrs. Booth.

There are at present no proceedings pending in the Land Commission for the acquisition of these lands, but the Deputy's representations have been noted for consideration as soon as circumstances permit.
